Grand Canyon

I haven't posted in ages, so here's my brief Top 10 on our recent trip to Phoenix-Scottsdale/Grand Canyon/Las Vegas:

#10: Purple cactus

#9: Visiting Vegas as if it was first time

#8: Dust tornadoes (didn’t know they existed!)

#7: Tacos & tamales at Carolina’s in Phoenix

#6: Alain Ducasse’s Mix at Mandalay Bay

#5: Off-roading in a 4-door sedan and wishing I rented an SUV (well, an unpaved road but we still had to take an alternate route)

#4: Hiking the Grand Canyon in the South rim

#3: Helicopter ride down to the Colorado River in the West rim

#2: Dreaming to have the same passion and dedication as Frank Lloyd Wright while at Taliesin West in Scottsdale

And my #1: Joshua Tree at sunset with the mountains in the background (definitely one of the  most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen)

Pictures to come soon.  I'll post more on Facebook, too.

My Sister's Wedding

How do you lose 2 weeks just from being sick?  Well, that's how it felt.  Now I have deadlines up the wazoo AND I'm moving this weekend.  I just got back from my sister's wedding in Bristol on Sunday.  When we were leaving, my new brother-in-law said, "See you in 6 weeks."  See you in 6 weeks??  See you in 6 weeks!  Wow, we are getting married SO soon.  It's crazy.  May is here/Spring is here/Our wedding is here.

Our trip to the UK was short and sweet.  I never quite got over jet-lag and slept the entire first day.  It did feel like vacation, as we slept in every morning.  We took a day trip to Bath on Thursday, enjoyed a lovely civil wedding and reception at Grandma Ann's house on Friday and saw the Millenium Bridge in London on Saturday.  The craziest thing about the trip was learning to drive on the other side of the road!  The first mistake was opening the car door on the wrong side when I rented a Peugeot hard-top convertible!  I booked an automatic, economy car and I guess that was all they had available.  What made it tough was how narrow the roads were.  It looked like cars were driving right into me, and I felt like I was 16 learning how-to drive again.  By the end of the 2nd day, I finally got adjusted but it's a whole other world.  You start questioning your perspective.  In the end, you learn to trust your instincts as cars drive by you at fast speeds inches from your car!

The wedding was beautiful and meeting his family was lovely.  Here are a few pictures:
